Merus Global Investments expands its Florida trading operations to Miami, adds veteran trading partners
New York and Miami Beach, FL, October 15, 2020 — Merus Global Investments, a leading multi-strategy investment partnership, today announced the further expansion of its business with the opening of a new trading facility in Miami’s burgeoning financial district, as well as the addition of two new partners, trading veterans Brook Bennett and Faraz Noorani. The Miami office, the firm’s second to open in Florida within the past 18 months, will be headed by Noorani. Bennett will be based out of Merus Global’s headquarters in New York City.
Both Bennett and Noorani join Merus from Aecor Capital Management, an investment management firm they co-founded in 2017. The two bring a combined 35+ years of trading experience to Merus and will help the firm continue on its accelerated growth path as one of the industry’s preeminent global trading firms. The team brings specific proficiencies in event-driven and special situation investment strategies, along with emerging expertise in SPAC (special-purpose acquisition company) investments.

Mr. Bennett has more than two decades of experience in investment management, spending the majority of his career with FNY Capital Management, where he first met Mr. Noorani prior to their co-founding of Aecor Capital Management. Throughout his career, Bennett has focused on equity derivatives, cross-border arbitrage, index arbitrage strategies, as well as event-driven, special situations such as spin-offs and SPACs. Bennett holds an MBA in finance from Columbia University and a B.A. in economics from Vassar College.
A Florida native, Mr. Noorani brings more than 15 years of experience in investment management to Merus, most recently at Aecor Capital Management, the firm he co- founded with Bennett in 2017. Prior to that, he was a Partner at FNY Capital Management where he was responsible for the management of the firm’s global equity trading desk, building a team that successfully employed event-driven, index arbitrage and ADR trading strategies, while managing all risk and personnel. He will look to build out a similar operation in Miami for Merus, and contribute to the firm’s growing SPAC expertise. Noorani began his career with Merrill Lynch after graduating from Emory University in 2005.

Trading Company Merus Global Investments Relocating HQ From FiDi to Midtown South
Internationaltrading company Merus Global Investments is moving its headquarters from the Financial District to 8,300 square feet at 3 Park Avenue between East 33rd and East 34th Streets, Commercial Observer has learned.
The company, founded in December 2015 and with a branch office in Austin, Texas, will occupy a portion of the 29th floor in the 41-story office tower when it moves from 88 Pine Street between Water and Front Streets in the third quarter. The lease is for 11 years with an asking rent of $75 per square foot, according to information provided by the landlord, Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation.

#GivingTuesday Clean Ocean Action Fund
We are very pleased to announce that we have partnered with Patagonia’s matching program for #GivingTuesday to donate to the Clean Ocean Action fund.
Based in Long Branch, NJ, the COA is a broad-based coalition of 125 active boating, business, community, conservation, diving, environmental, fishing, religious, service, student, surfing, and women’s groups. These “Ocean Wavemakers” work to clean up and protect the waters of the New York Bight. The groups came together in 1984 to investigate sources, effects, and solutions to ocean pollution.
Under the guidance of COA’s Board of Trustees, COA’s staff researches pollution issues affecting the marine environment, then formulates policy and campaigns to eliminate each pollution source. The staff then coordinates and organizes the Ocean Wavemakers (Participating Organizations, Concerned Businesses, Educators for a Clean Ocean, and Concerned Citizens) to use their individual experience and expertise to help.
With eight ocean dumpsites closed, powerful new clean water laws on the books, and a greater public awareness of the ocean and it’s improved health, it’s clear the system works.

The Poker4Life charity poker tournament has been running for the past 13 years and benefits select non-profit organizations, primarily The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, which supports the scientific research efforts of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is considered the premier investigative research program conducting cutting edge discovery, translational, and clinical investigations targeting spinal cord and brain injuries.
